Does the Oil Spill Speak Prophetically?

    Jul 17
    2010

DSC03732I recently asked some of  our ministry team if they saw any prophetic correalation in the Gulf oil Spill, and I was handed this newsletter the very next day, I only knew the obvious, that the enemy was blanketing this nation with a spirit of defilement. I believe this will help open up our understanding.

    The Voice of the Sign

    Paul Keith Davis

Obviously, the question most often asked in recent days concerns our prophetic perspective of the calamities associated with the oil spill. This is something that we are very personally and intimately involved in as it is occurring right outside our home. Clearly, I have spent countless hours praying over the subject both as a defense mechanism for our region and prophetic understanding of its implications.

In the process, I personally felt it was imperative to not take a hindsight position and prophesy after the fact with various impressions or opinions. That posture has a place of value to spearhead intercession and mobilization of resources; even so, I have felt a greater need for a more sure word of prophecy that bears the insignia of Heaven and provides valid direction and insight to mobilize God’s people.

The biblical pattern has always been that prophets foretold key events with direction and insight attached to it. When the event occurred as prophesied, a greater measure of faith could be attached to the message associated with it. Exodus 4 outlines the model for ministry in the life of Moses; spiritual signs were given with a voice or message. It is the message that is of paramount importance.

And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign. –Exodus 4:8

According to Amos 3:7, the Lord will do nothing unless he first reveals His secret counsel to the servants the prophets. Furthermore, Jeremiah articulated God’s perspective in Jeremiah 28:9 saying:

“The prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet comes to pass, then that prophet will be known as one whom the LORD has truly sent.”

It is imperative that we now contend for a greater measure of prophetic understanding and foretell events before they occur with the corresponding heavenly message.  With that said, I felt it essential to only prophesy of what we may have seen before the event. In December 2006 I had a prophetic experience that I now believe has direct application.

Further below I will share a transcript of the full message as I preached it in 2008. However, there are two quick points I would like to highlight. In this experience I saw what appeared as a “manhole” being lifted from the bowels of the earth. In various times of sharing this message throughout the last three years I have used the expression “manhole” as the best description of the image I saw being opened over the “bowels of the earth” or the “bowels of hell.” (I used both expressions in various accounts of sharing the experience)

When I finally began to understand the implications of this experience with the oil spill, the Lord reminded me that this is a “man-made hole” that has opened the bowels of the earth to this deep reservoir of oil. The footage shown on news networks of the oil billowing up into the Gulf are almost identical to the images I saw as the manhole was lifted and clouds of evil began to pour out. In my experience the lid or manhole looked like this:

    Picture not uploaded

As a further confirmation, there was an article published in Petroleum World magazine entitled, “The Well from Hell.” In the article the author made this statement:

According to the New York Times , BP’s internal “documents show that in March, after several weeks of problems on the rig, BP was struggling with a loss of ‘well control.’ And as far back as 11 months ago, it was concerned about the well casing and the blowout preventer.” The problem is that this methane, located deep in the bowels of the earth, is under tremendous pressure…

This article utilized some of the exact language that I used while describing my experience. Furthermore, while in Connecticut in early June we were discussing the oil situation and one of our hosts commented that he had listened to me share my prophetic experience concerning the lid being lifted over the bowels of the earth. He reminded me that I saw spirits ascending that had the appearance of Hitler and other tyrants of the past. He pointed out that Hitler was born on April 20 and this event started on April 20. Just in recent days we have seen an escalation in anti-Israel sentiment that is demonically inspired.

This seemed to be a further affirmation of the application of the experience. The Bible predicted that during the last days darkness would cover the Earth and deep darkness the people; but also marked the exact time that God’s people would “arise and shine for our light has come.”  (See Isaiah 60:1-5)

    The Oil Spill

From my perspective, I feel this is not an act of God but the foolishness and greed of mankind that the enemy has influenced and fueled as the “devourer.” Even so, God will use this as a signpost that we have crossed a line of demarcation in end-of-the-age events.

The good news is, I heard a Voice say in my 2006 experience that great hosts of Heaven will be dispatched to work with Christians to prepare and equip them to walk in realms of glory to facilitate the harvest and become the mature sons of the Kingdom. That is our hope and the object of our prayerful focus and determination.

When evil abounds, grace will much more abound. This is not a time for fear, but faith filled decrees and proclamations in agreement with God to activate His people to meet the challenges of this age and overcome the enemies attempt to hinder and impede the harvest.

The following is a written transcript of a message preached in 2008 in which I share this experience.

Sue Kellough, a Legacy of Love

    Her Name is Sue

…and she loved me before she knew my name. I’ll never forget the weekend that we met. I was singing with a worship team for a conference in Indianapolis. Matt Sorger was our main speaker. Sue and her group had been invited as apostolic representatives and intercessors for the city of Indianapolis. She sat in the front row. I remember being drawn to her radiant face during worship. I would watch her sing and cry and be visibly moved by the Spirit of God and it was beautiful to see.

During an afternoon session, the speaker began ministering to intercessors in our midst. He asked intercessors to stand and for us to gather around them and pray. I was all the way in the back and Sue was again in the front row. I watched as people ministered to her and then she sat down. Compelled, I walked all the way to the front and I sat down beside her. She reached over and held my hand. We didn’t even speak. She just held my hand and closed her eyes as the ministry of the Spirit washed over her and me. And, I began to cry. At first, I wasn’t even sure why. Tears streamed down my face.

As I sat so close to her with my hand in hers, awareness of the source of tears came to me and as I cried, this terrible and deep, deep hurt was rising up from the hidden place and leaving. For many reasons that I won’t go into here, there has always been a tremendous void in my life when it came to the place of grandparent love. A couple months before this conference, my grandpa died after a battle with cancer. I remember standing around his body at the funeral home with all my family around me. Everyone was so sad and distraught and tears flowed. As I stood there, I realized that my family wept because they had only just lost this man. Anger flashed inside me and I remember staring at him and saying in my heart, “I lost you as a 7 year old girl.” With my face set like stone, I swallowed back the tears.

This all came flooding back to me as Sue held my hand, and I knew
that she loved me in a way I had longed to be loved. We sat together until they called the worship team up to the stage. I tried to sing, but I could barely breathe. I left the stage and went all the way to the back corner of the room and sat on the floor. It was like a dam broke and I wept and mourned. Hot tears splashed down and searing pain rose up and left.

After the conference came to a close, I saw her walking down a hallway to leave. I lagged behind like a school child wanting to speak to her, but being unsure of myself. Finally, I mustered up the courage and spoke to her, and I told her how God had touched my heart and used the small gesture of her taking my hand so powerfully. She took my hand in hers, again, and said to me, “I am so proud of you. I love you.” I looked up at her, nodded, and said, “I knew that.”

…and that was the beginning of our relationship. I left the conference not knowing her name and she not knowing mine. I called around and found out who she was and that she had prayer meeting several times each week. I spoke with her on the phone and asked permission to attend a meeting, which I did and kept going back. I just wanted to be near her. A few months later, she asked for my help doing some administrative tasks for her and her ministry. For more than a year, I went to her home one afternoon each week. We talked. I helped her. She would make lunch and tell me stories from her past and share her visions for the future. She loved me through two miscarriages and prayed without ceasing for Zeke before, during and after my pregnancy.

Ten days before she died, I dreamed that I was at her house and it was filled with people from all over the world who had gathered to see Sue and hear her speak. She was well. More well even than she had been before this cancer. She was taller, thinner, straighter, stronger. People were leaving after the gathering was over and I was wandering around her home because I didn’t want to leave. There were other elements to the dream. When I woke up, I remembered every detail and my thoughts were of her and my prayers were for her healing. I didn’t reach her by phone until two days later. Our last conversation. I started telling her about my dream, and shortly she stopped me to call her daughter in. Her voice was shaking and I heard her say, “Mandy had the same dream.” She told me that morning she dreamed she was preparing for a gathering, a party at her house where people had come from all over the world. She saw herself and she was well–thinner, stronger and unencumbered. We were both overcome. This amazing demonstration of God’s goodness, His power unfolded between us. We praised Him and thanked Him.

I didn’t want to keep her long because it was getting late, but before we got off the phone, she spoke of how God had connected our hearts and she said from the moment she saw me, she loved me…

That’s her in the front row.

    Prepared For The Times

    Apr 06
    2010

Prepared for the Times, Part 15
    Week 15, 2010

We should expect God’s Words to be challenged in every way possible if they are valuable. Satan will viciously attack every truth that he can because God’s truth will set people free from the darkness that has them in bondage. The Lord allows His Word to be tested—to reveal its strength and integrity. God allows His messengers to be tested to reveal their strength, integrity, and devotion to the truth. If God had wanted it to be easy for us, He could have bound Satan right after the resurrection, but He left him on the loose for our sakes!

One time I was listening to the radio program of a man who had seemingly built his ministry on attacking me. He was spewing lies about me that I thought were the exact opposite of the truth about me, and he was twisting or even lying about things I had supposedly said. Flustered, I prayed and asked the Lord to remove this man from his platform. I immediately heard the Lord say that He would do this. He then asked me who I wanted to take his place?

Almost immediately this man was kicked out of his denomination, and it did seem that his ministry was collapsing in almost every way. However, soon dozens of others like him started assailing me. It was like stepping on one big spider and a thousand little ones came scurrying out. I got the message and started praying for my enemies, not against them. Soon I developed a genuine affection for some, and even felt compelled to ask the Lord to bless them, giving them the Holy Spirit who would lead them into all truth. I also asked the Lord to please not let them die as stumbling blocks.

I then listened to the program of one of my attackers and he happened to be talking about me again, but this time he said some things that were true, of which I did need to repent. After that, I could sincerely thank the Lord for him. Sometimes our enemies will tell us things our friends won’t tell us but that we need to hear. We are told over and over in the Book of Proverbs that the wise love reproof. I think this is because the truly wise love the truth more than their own reputation, and they know the basic truth that God disciplines those whom He loves. If we are not receiving correction, it should be a much greater concern to us!

Josiah was possibly the most righteous king in Judea’s history. It is written that he excelled in doing things even his father David did not do, such as tearing down the high places. However, Josiah died because he did not heed the voice of the Lord that came through Neco, king of the Egyptians, who was his enemy (see II Chronicles 35). The Lord did not speak to him twice and did not confirm the word that came through a most unlikely source. Josiah paid a dear price for not knowing and heeding the voice of the Lord spoken through his enemy. Others may have been able to get away with this, but Josiah should have known better.

The point of this is, the more we are trusted with, the more that is required of us. The things you can get away with in the Outer Court may get you killed in the Holy Place. The Lord does make allowances for our immaturity, but God is holy and will be treated as holy. The more mature we become, the more that proper behavior with Him and His Word will be required. As we are seeking to get higher revelation and more powerful words, let us also seek to grow in the wisdom of God and in character.

Likewise, the great controversies and attacks now coming at Christianity in America should not discourage us, but rather challenge us to determine what we believe about these important issues and why. We cannot deny the Lord by denying His Word, so we are compelled to do this. When we know His teaching on a matter, then standing for that truth is not an option—we must stand for the truth. We must also stand for the truth in the right Spirit. The result will be a much stronger faith and a much stronger church. This is all working for our good.

The Secret Place By Bob Sorge

    It’s all about intimacy!

Could it be that is what Jesus was talking about in Matt 7:22 and 23 “I never knew you”? I believe this article addresses the limiting issues that prevent the church from thriving as it should. —   Jack Rogers

A friend recently told me, “The secret place has been the point of greatest frustration and attack in my personal walk.” I know he’s not alone. Since the secret place holds the keys to authentic kingdom overcoming, the enemy will cause his strongest assaults to bear upon this single point of a Christian’s life.
